WestCAT Offers Free Weekend Rides Through Summer
Program funded by Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP)
Pinole, CA — April 29, 2026 — WestCAT is pleased to announce that beginning Saturday, May 16, 2026, all weekend bus rides will be completely free for passengers through Sunday, July 26, 2026. This initiative is made possible through funding from the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP), which supports transit agencies in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving mobility options for the community. During this promotional period, passengers can simply board any WestCAT bus, including WestCAT provided Dial-A-Ride service, on Saturdays and Sundays and ride at no cost—no pass, ticket, or payment required. If you need to transfer to another transit agency at a shared bus stop, simply ask the operator for a transfer slip when you board the bus. The goal of the program is to:
- Encourage more residents to try public transit
- Reduce traffic congestion and emissions
- Provide affordable and accessible transportation options for the community

Free weekend rides will be available on all WestCAT routes during the promotional period.
