Clipper Card
WestCAT accepts Clipper cards on all WestCAT Local, Express, and LYNX routes (some restrictions do apply).
Clipper cards allow you to store multiple passes and cash fare on one easy-to-use card.
Clipper automatically figures out the cost of your ride, including all discounts and transfers. Just tag and go!
Boarding Requirements
- Adult / Youth Cards: Must hold at least $1.75 in cash value, or have a valid pass loaded.
- Senior / Access (formerly RTC) Cards: Must hold at least $0.75 in cash value, or have a valid pass loaded.
- Tagging: Always tap your card on the reader near the front door when boarding and wait for the green light and beep.

Where to Get a Clipper Card
- Download the Clipper mobile app from the App Store or Google Play to get a virtual card.
- Order a physical card at clippercard.com
- Purchase Adult Clipper cards at BART Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) or at participating Walgreens locations.
- Obtain a card in-person at the WestCAT Administrative Office in Pinole (Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
Youth and Senior Discount Applications
Youth (ages 5–18) and Seniors (65+) can now apply for their discount Clipper cards online at clippercard.com, making it easier than ever to access discounted fares.
Clipper Card Costs
- Virtual Adult cards: Free (limited time) with a $3 minimum load.
- Physical cards: $3 fee, waived with Autoload when ordered online.
- Youth, Senior, Clipper START and Clipper Access (formerly RTC) cards: Free.
Adding Value and Passes
Add value through the Clipper app, Clipper website, BART Ticket Vending Machines, in-person at the WestCAT Administrative Office in Pinole (Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or at participating Walgreens locations.Products loaded online or by phone may take up to three to five days to appear. Autoload can automatically reload your card when your balance is low.
Clipper START
Riders ages 19–64 with qualifying incomes can apply for Clipper START to receive discounted fares. Riders must apply for and use the START card. Apply online at www.clipperstartcard.com
Checking Balances
Balances no longer display on validators but can be checked anytime:- In real-time via the Clipper app or website (for registered cards).
- Through Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for mobile cards.
- Call Clipper Customer Service at 877.878.8883.
- In-person at the WestCAT Administrative Office in Pinole (Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or at participating Walgreens locations.
